Marriott Royal Aurora

Event Review

The leading specialists in trade and export finance gathered in Moscow for Exporta’s 5th Annual Russia & Eurasia Trade & Export Finance Conference to discuss regional economic challenges as well as the wider implications of volatile global markets and their impact on the domestic landscape. With discussion centred on the current eurozone crisis, delegates were able to hear unique perspectives from active international players, such as Coca-Cola, Lukoil, Nokia, CNH and DHL, on how they are adapting their operational strategies to synchronise with the current trading environment.

The conference began with a high-level keynote address from Mr. Igor Koval of the Department of Economic Development of the Government of the Russian Federation, who outlined the role of government in creating a stable economic platform for businesses, investors and the banking sector.

Delegates were then given numerous market perspectives as over forty speakers took part over the course of the day during panel discussions and individual presentations, where discussion of essential subjects took place, such as the changing attitudes towards global currency settlements, project finance collaborations, capital goods trade between Russia and the Mena region, facilitating trade through institutional partnerships, the changing attitude to trade credit insurance as well as the current risk appetite for Russian trade finance.

The conference was the perfect setting for peer-to-peer networking with a healthy mix of domestic, regional and global delegates. One of the key features of the conference was the emphasis on making new business connections so essential collaborations and partnerships could be forged.

The conference welcomed support from VTB Bank, J.P. Morgan, FIMBank, FactorRus, Coastline Solutions and ABC International Bank and the event would not have been possible without this essential support. Intuitional partnerships also played a major role as the EBRD, ICC and Berne Union contributed greatly to the success of the conference.

Following the conference, Exporta were delighted to host the 2012 EBRD/ ICC Banking Graduation Ceremony where delegates were able to meet with the region’s future leaders in trade finance.
