African Banking Awards Charity Dinner 2009

African Banking Awards Charity Dinner 2009

United KingdomLondon, United Kingdom | December 9, 2009
Hilton Tower Bridge Hotel

Event Review

emeafinance hosted its second annual African Banking Awards Charity dinner held at London’s Hilton Tower Bridge Hotel on December 9.

The event was attended by Africa’s most successful commercial and investment banks, legal firms and corporate advisers, many of whom travelled from all corners of the continent to celebrate their success and achievements.

In an economic environment as volatile and unpredictable as 2009, our African Banking Award winners remained in the black. In most cases their growth and profits exceeded those of the recent and very positive previous years, while simultaneously improving risk management and capital ratios.

The evening’s keynote speech was delivered by Howard Barrie, partner and head of the Africa committee at law firm Denton Wilde Sapte. Howard offered his personal views on topics important to the development of African finance and macroeconomic growth including Chinese investment, private equity investment and activity, growth and expansion of the telecommunications industry and infrastructure, and the intra-continental expansion of Africa’s leading banks.

The African Banking Awards Charity dinner is in aid of Unicef - the world’s leading organisation working for children and their rights. Unicef’s cause know as Unite for Children, Unite against AIDS campaign will benefit from donations made by the winners and emeafinance. Thank you to all the participants who provided their generous support to this worthy cause.

emeafinance congratulates the award winners again and hopes to see them at next year’s award event.

Description

Amidst the turmoil of the credit crunch and global recession, many African banks are still delivering impressive results, boasting rising profits and increasing their Tier 1 capital through private and even public capital raising efforts. Both pan-African and international expansion also continues apace.

emeafinance magazine is proud to recognise the progress and success of Africa’s leading banks with our second annual African Banking Achievement Awards 2009.

Our awards will be presented to the African Banking award winners at a charity dinner held at the Hilton Tower Bridge Hotel in London on Wednesday 9 December 2009.

The dinner is a must-attend event for professionals engaged and involved in Africa’s banking sector. The charity dinner not only provides an opportunity to recognize success across the sector but also provides a unique opportunity to network with peers from across the continent.
