The world's emerging market specialists were in attendance for Exporta's 7th Annual Emerging Markets Trade & Political Risk Conference, which was held at the Willis Building in London on May 12th.
A gathering of leading insurance brokers, underwriters, trade and commodity finance bankers, lawyers and various other key actors were in attendance to discuss the shifting global economic landscape, with emerging markets now seen as the principal growth area for global trade and political risk a paramount area for concern.
Observations were made throughout the day on the political risk insurance market, the appetite for trade finance within emerging markets, the role of ECAs and multilaterals, the impact of Basel II, capacity issues within the reinsurance market, as well as highlighting particular areas of concern within the Gulf, Eastern Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America.
Following a full day’s discussion, which incorporated strong debate, detailed presentation content and networking, a special evening reception took place, providing a more informal setting for delegates to discuss the abundant business opportunities available within emerging markets, and to consider what the future holds.
