EMEA Finance’s third annual Middle East Banking Awards Charity Dinner was held on February 22 at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai.

More than 130 representatives of banks and advisers travelled from across the region to network with their peers and celebrate their hard-won successes during the past year. Over the course of the evening we recognised retail and investment banks, brokers and asset managers, and other advisers who have grown their businesses despite the many challenges that 2010 presented.

The evening’s keynote speech was given by Dr Nasser Saidi, chief economist at the Dubai International Financial Centre. Dr Saidi discussed the lessons learned by Middle East banks during the global economic downturn and his thoughts on the difficulties that remain ahead.

The dinner was held in support of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies – donations and the proceeds of a silent auction went towards its work in disaster relief.
EMEA Finance congratulates all of the winners of this year’s awards and hopes to see many of them return at next year’s event.
